September 12th - Emmet County Youth Fall Day - Emmet County Izaak Walton League in Estherville - 1 to 4 p.m. Activities for all area youth grades 4th ­ 12th. Activities include: archery, muzzleloader shooting, .22 rifle range, trapshooting, high power rifles and cross bows. Food and prizes provided by area sponsors. Please pre-register by calling Emmet County Conservation at 712-867-4422.

September 18th - Pioneer Day at Peterson Point Farm on A34 & N40 - 6 miles east of Wallingford 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - $2 admission for over 12 years. Buffalo Ridge Renegades, Black Knights cars, various demonstrations - quilting, spinning, wood carving, blacksmithing, etc. Food available and parking at the farm.

October 19th - Creatures of the Night night hike start at the Nature Center - 6 to 8 p.m. Come check out the nature center and go for a night hike to learn a little about some of the animals of Iowa. Several hikes will be leaving the nature center throughout the evening. Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate after you get back from your hike. Check out the carved pumpkins and enjoy the bonfire. Reservations are appreciated but not required by calling 867-4422.
